Cardinals Climb to Eighth in Bayou City Collegiate

MONTGOMERY, Texas - Working to improve their final placings in the Bayou City Collegiate Classic, Lamar's men's golf team would put up 293 strokes on the day to go from 11th to a tie for eighth. Along with with 315 and 295 strokes from the first two rounds, LU's final total of 903 strokes matches them with Jacksonville State.

Pedro Marin, Guillermo Estivill, and Carl Hardin all shot 72 for the round. Marin finished with 221 strokes (78-71-72) to be tied for 11th. With 223 strokes (80-71-72), Estivill finished tied for 22nd while Hardin was tied for 45th with 229 strokes (80-77-72). Jacob Lindh produced his second 77 for the tournament to finished tied for 58th with 234 strokes (77-80-77) while Hugo Hellman (80-76-85) finished tied for 78th with 241 strokes. Kevin Lee shot six strokes better than in the second round to place tied for 88th with 247 strokes (85-84-78).

"We shot ourselves in the foot with our first round, but fought back over the next two to move up a few spots," said head coach Jessie Mudd. "I'm proud of the guys for showing some resilience and self belief to be able to bounce and ultimately move in a positive direction

Florida Atlantic defeated Sam Houston by five strokes overall led by Alex Maguire, who won in a playoff. The Cardinals will get set to prepare for the Western Athletic Championships, which will tee off on April 29th in Las Vegas, Nev.
