BEAUMONT, Texas - Looking to snap a two-game skid, Lamar University's women's basketball team returns home to the Montagne Center for the first of two home games before the Christmas break. On Saturday, LU will take on Louisiana where the tipoff starts at 2:00 p.m.
Continuing a Southland Tradition
LU was the fourth team to play LSU this season and only the third team along with HCU and Southeastern LA to be within one possession of the Tigers after the first quarter. The Cardinals conceded 17 points, which was the second lowest LSU had scored in the first quarter.
Majority Rules
Sabria Dean and
Portia Adams would each have a quarter in which they scored the majority of the team's points in the contest against LSU. Dean tallied nine of her team's 15 points in the first while Adams had six of the eight in the fourth quarter. Combined, the two of them tallied 29 points to lead the team.

Dean leads the Southland Conference with 22 steals averaing 2.4 per game.
Malay McQueen is tied for fifth with 14 in the seven games she played. Meanwhile,
Emma Imevbore is tied for second in blocks with 12.
History Against The Ragin Cajuns
In what will be the 65th meeting all-time between the two schools, the Cardinals hold a 43-21 edge against the Ragin Cajuns. The last meeting between the two schools, Louisiana claimed a 74-63 win in Beaumont during the 2019-20 season. The season prior saw LU edge out Louisiana 79-77 in overtime. Â
Scouting The Ragin Cajuns
Following a loss to Auburn, Louisiana is sitting at 5-5 overall. Averaging 52.1 points per game, the Ragin Cajuns are led by Tamera Johnson, who is scoring 10.8 ppg, which includes six games scoring 10 or more points. She also leads with 7.4 rebounds per game.
