BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's basketball program finishes non-conference play when they head to Austin, Texas to take on the 19
th ranked Texas Longhorns on Tuesday afternoon with tip off scheduled for 4:02 p.m. CT.
Leading the Cards through six games is junior guard
Angel Hastings who boasts a points per game average of 11.1 points and adds on 24.9 minutes per contest. Hastings is currently third in the Southland in free-throw percentage at 83.3 percent. Preseason All-Conference selection senior
Jadyn Pimentel is second behind Hastings in scoring for the Cards with a 8.9 average while tacking on an average of 21.6 minutes a game.
The Longhorns are led by Charli Collier. Collier, who was a Big 12 All-Conference selection a year ago, leads Texas with 24.1 points per game and tacks on 9.9 rebounds a game. Karisma Ortiz and Kyra Lambert help the Longhorn offense with 1.9 and 2.6 assists per game, respectively.
The Cardinals will open conference play on Saturday, January 2 when they are back on the road and travel to Abilene Christian. Tip off is slated for 1:00 p.m. CT.

LAST TIME WE PLAYED
- Despite a 16-point performance from senior Jadyn Pimentel, the Cardinals fell to the Texas State Bobcats on Saturday evening in San Marcos by a score of 69-53.
- Texas State got things rolling out of the opening whistle and was quickly answered by junior Anyssia Gibbs to even things up within the first three minutes. Gibbs went onto help the Cards with four first-quarter points that helped keep the Cardinals in the contest.
- The fourth quarter saw the Cardinals try to claw their way back into the contest has Texas State opened the fourth with a lead of 48-34. Lamar went to a full-court press in the fourth to help combat the Bobcat offense. Wilson, McQueen and Pimentel helped the Cards cut the lead to 11 at the fourth quarter media. Texas State extended their lead over Lamar with free throws by Lauryn Thompson and Kennedy Taylor. The Bobcats went on to extend their lead over the Cards as they captured the win by a score of 69-53.
SERIES HISTORY
- This marks the 11th meeting between the programs with the Longhorns leading the Cardinals, 8-2, in the series.
- The last time the programs met came on the first weekend of competition in the 2009 year with Texas coming away with the win over the Cardinals, 82-45.
