NATCHITOCHES, La. - Recording double-digit Top 10 finishes for the second week in a row, Lamar University's track & field team had a great Friday at the Leon Johnson Invitational, hosted by Northwestern State University.
Thai Williams captured Lamar's first Top 10 of the day in the women's long jump where she nailed a mark of 18' 5.75".
Ju'Vonta Conston won the men's high jump for just the second time in his career when he passed a height of 6' 6.75".
Migle Muraskaite took second in the women's javelin throw with a toss of 143', and
Javon McCray rounded out the Top 10's in the field events with a fifth-place jump of 45' 11.25".
The running events also went well for Lamar with eight Top 10 finishes.
Wreagan Taylor ran a 14.97 in the women's 100-meter hurdles for fifth place and Muraskaite ran an eighth-place 15.17.
Talon Tilley (eighth, 15.34) and
Tony Land (ninth, 15.37) took Top 10's in the men's 110-meter hurdles,
Bo Waldrup took 10th in the men's 400-meter hurdles,
Ruta Okulic-Kazarinaite came home with fifth place in the women's 400-meter hurdles, and
Keegan Crawford took fourth in the men's 400-meter hurdles with a 55.64 - a new personal best.
Webster Slaughter was the final Top 10 of the day in the men's 200-meter dash with a sixth-place finish of 21.98.
The Cardinals return to action on April 19 with the Bryan Clay Invite at Azusa Pacific and the Long Beach Invitational at Long Beach State.
