Buenanueva Saleme & Duboscq Start Heptathlon at 44 Farms Invitational

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Lamar University senior Mariam Buenanueva Saleme and freshman Eloise Duboscq opened the first day of the Texas A&M 44 Farms Invitational Thursday by competing in the first four events of the women's heptathlon. Buenanueva Saleme is currently in fifth place with 3,304 points and trails third place by 38 points, while Duboscq sits in 15th with 3,012.
 
Buenanueva Saleme (Buenos Aires, Argentina) recorded two top-five finishes by taking fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (13.65) and fifth in the 200m (24.72). She also placed 10th in the high jump (1.63m/5-4.25) and launched her shot put of 10.95m (35-11.25) to place 17th. All of these times and distances are personal bests for her.
 
Duboscq (Toulouse, France) landed in the top 15 in three events, including 12th in both the 100-meter hurdles (14.41) and the shot put (11.77m/38-7.5). She placed 13th in the high jump (1.57m/5-1.75) and ran the 200m at 26.62 to finish 24th.
 
Both athletes will conclude the seven-event heptathlon Friday with the long jump, javelin and 800m, beginning at 11:30 a.m. The rest of the Cardinals will also get started with their events, starting with the men's discus at 10 a.m.
