BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's basketball team squares off with Abilene Christian on Wednesday night for its second of four straight road games. The Cards will be looking to extend its winning streak to 12 games.

Abilene Christian enters the contest with the Cards coming off a 72-68 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Jan. 30. The win for the Wildcats is its second straight. Against the Islanders, ACU shot 51.0 percent from the field and hit six three-pointers. The Islanders forced Abilene Christian into 25 turnovers in the contest. ACU had three players score in double-figures, led by Breanna Wright. Wright played 35 minutes and scored 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting. Dominique Golightly and Lexie Ducat followed with 15 and 14 points, respectfully.

Abilene Christian is led in scoring by Golightly, who is averaging 14.5 points per game. Golightly leads three other Wildcats who average in double-figures. Sara Williams (13.0), Breanna Wright (12.7) and Lexie Ducat (11.1) round out the double-figure scorers. Golightly leads the team in made three-pointers as she has made 45 threes on the season. Makayla Mabry and Ducat lead the team in rebounding, averaging 6.5 rebounds per game.

As a team, ACU is averaging 74.7 points per game and are shooting 45.1 percent from the floor. The Wildcats scored a season-high 109 points against McNeese on Jan. 9. Opponents are averaging 63.2 points per game and shooting 40.6 percent from the floor on the season.

The Wildcats were picked to finish sixth in the Southland Conference Preseason Poll.

LAST TIME OUT – McNEESE
The Lamar University women's basketball team extended its winning streak to 11 games with a 64-62 victory over McNeese on Saturday afternoon at the H&HP Complex. The win is LU's 23 straight regular season Southland Conference victory.

With the win, the Cards improve to 16-4 on the season and 9-0 in SLC play, while McNeese falls to 5-14 and 3-5 in SLC action.

"We are happy to get out of here with a victory," remarked head coachÂ
Robin Harmony. "McNeese came into the contest as a red-hot team. We turned the ball over too many times in the game. The big difference in the contest was at the free throw line where we shot 70 percent (11-for-17) for the game."

Moe Kinard led the Cards with 22 points on 9-of-18 shooting. Kinard hit a team-high four three pointers.Â
Miya Crump rounded out the double-figure scorers with 13 points for LU. Lamar shot 37 percent for the contest.

Chastadie Barrs recorded three steals in the game and now has a steal in 111 straight contests. She has 575 steals in her career at LU.

The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Feb. 9 when they travel to Nacogdoches, Texas to face Stephen F. Austin. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. from William R. Johnson Coliseum.
