BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's basketball team has won 39-straight games at the Montagne Center and will look to make it 40-straight on Wednesday night when they host Incarnate Word. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. The contest is Play 4 Kay - Breast Cancer Awareness game. The Cards will have pink on the uniforms. Fans we ask that you wear pink to the contest.Â

Chastadie Barrs was named the Southland Conference Player of the Week for the fifth time this season. Barrs averaged 18.5 points, 8.0 steals, 7.0 assists and 6.5 rebounds per game in last weeks two victories.

Incarnate Word enters the contest with the Cards coming off a 71-50 loss to Abilene Christian. UIW has three wins this season with its last coming on Feb. 13 against Southeastern Louisiana. Against the Lady Lions, UIW shot 41.0 percent from the field and committed 15 turnovers. Gabbi Bowie led the Cardinals with 17 points. Lunden Henry followed with 15 points off the bench.Â
UIW is led in scoring by Imani Robinson, who is averaging 9.0 points per game. Robinson is the lone player from the Cardinals roster to be named to the Preseason All-SLC contest. UIW has four players averaging 7.0 or more points per game. Starr Omozee leads the team in rebounding averaging 6.1 rebounds per game.
As a team, UIW is averaging 55.2 points per game this season and are shooting 31.9 percent from the floor. The Cardinals scored a season-high 81 points against New Orleans on Jan. 26. Opponents are averaging 74.5 points per game and shooting 44.5 percent on the season.
This is the second matchup between the LU and UIW. Earlier this season, Lamar defeated UIW, 77-51.
Chastadie Barrs led the Cardinals with 23 points, seven steals, and six assists. Kinard followed with 21 points on the night.
Jadyn Pimentel rounded out the double-figure scorers with 11 points.
Briana Laidler collected a career-high 13 rebounds. LU shot 39 percent in the contest.

LAST TIME OUT – SAM HOUSTON STATE
The Lamar University Cardinals extended its home court winning streak to 39 straight games with an 81-76 victory over Sam Houston State in Southland Conference action on Saturday afternoon.

With the win, the Cardinals improve to 19-5 overall and 12-1 in SLC play, while the Bearkats fall to 13-10, and 8-5 in SLC play.

"We knew that we were going to play a really good team, because when we played them at their place it was a 10-point game," remarked head coachÂ
Robin Harmony. "We were up by 10 twice and they made a run back at us, but we kept our composure and did what we needed to do to get the W."

The Cardinals had five players score in double-figures in the contest led byÂ
Miya Crump with 22 points.Â
Moe Kinard followed with 17 points.Â

Umaja Collins rounded out the double-figure scorers with 15 points, 13 points, and 12 points respectively.

Lamar shot 41.3 percent from the floor for the game. LU forced the Bearkats into 19 turnovers in the contest.

In the third quarter of the contest, Lamar's Barr set the LU career assists mark. She has 657 in her career. The previous record was held by Ramona Jones at 653. Barrs also recorded six steals and now has 600 career steals. She is 25 steals away from setting the career NCAA steals mark.

Kinard hit two three-pointers in the contest and is tied for the most threes in LU school history with 204. She is tied with Jenna Plumley.

With the win today, coachÂ
Robin Harmony has now won 110 games in her career at LU, the second most all-time.
