Lamar vs. NC State - Thursday, November 14 at 6 p.m. (7 p.m. ET)James T. Valvano Arena at William Neal Reynolds Coliseum (Raleigh, NC)

NC State is 2-0 this season after taking down North Carolina A&T 80-44 and UNCW 80-40, both at home. The Wolfpack also defeated Anderson University 76-47 in an exhibition game.

Wes Moore is in his seventh season as head coach of NC State and is 140-58 in that time. A former assistant of famous Wolfpack coach Kay Yow, Moore has also been the head coach at Maryville College (1987-1993), Francis Marion (1995-1998), and University of Tennessee-Chattanooga (1998-2013). He's accrued an all-time record of 700-227 in that time with 29 winning seasons, and was the 2019 Associated Press National Coach of the Year Runner Up.

After a 28-6 overall record including a 12-4 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play and a Sweet 16 appearance, NC State was picked to finish second in the ACC this season in the preseason poll and ranked 14th in the preseason Associated Press Poll. Louisville is the only ACC team projected to have a better season than the Wolfpack.

Jakia Brown-Turner was named to the ACC Newcomer of the Year watch list in the preseason and is averaging 12.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, one steal, one assist, and 0.5 blocks in 28 minutes per game as a freshman. Elissa Cunane, a Preseason All-ACC Team member, is shooting 68.8 percent from the floor and averaging 13.5 points, six rebounds, 1.5 blocks, and one assist a game while averaging about 16.5 minutes on the court. Aislinn Konig rounds out the preseason accolades for the Wolfpack with an All-ACC nod. She's averaging six points, 2.5 boards, two steals, and two assists a game.

The Last Time Out - Howard Payne - Lamar wins 96-36

Limiting Howard Payne to just one point in the first eight minutes and 36 points total, Lamar University's women's basketball team rode a phenomenal defensive effort and strong shooting in a rout of the Lady Jackets. The Cardinals won 96-36 in front of 3,856 cheering fans from the Beaumont Independent School District on Monday morning.

"We had a lot of people contribute on the offensive end and a lot of great things on the defensive end that I'm really happy about," said head coach Aqua Franklin. "Ashlan Miles played her heart out today with seven steals, and jumped start us off the bench. We also welcomed Jadyn Pimentel back today. I'm super excited about these ladies that I'm leading. I think they're playing super hard for me, and they're tremendous athletes as we saw today."
