PENSACOLA, Fla. – In a rare fall tournament that is a team format, the Lamar University women tennis team squared off against West Florida and Southern Mississippi Friday afternoon in Pensacola, Fla. The Cardinals picked up a win over Southern Miss but came up just short against the Argonauts.

"It was not a bad night for our team," said LU head coach
David Wong. "West Florida is a very tough team. We had our chances tonight but came up just short. We came away with one victory on the day. Right now we are focusing on the process, and that is the important thing. Tonight, we are going to get some rest and get prepared for Southeastern Louisiana."

LU's duo of senior
Jasmin Buchta and freshman
Jayci Wong defeated one of the Argonauts top squads for the first victory of the day. The Cardinals second win came in singles from junior
Natalia Garcia Molina. After dropping the first set Molina rallied for the win in three sets over Gabriela Araujo, 5-7, 11-9, 10-2.

The Red and White's second singles victory also came from Garcia Molina. She returned to the court to face Samantha Echevarria in a straight sets, 6-1, 6-2.
