BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University will be sending three players – sophomores
Arina Gudovskaya,
Asta Miettinen and
Luana Paiva – to Natchitoches, La. for the 2025 Southland Fall Masters Championships. In its second year of action, the Southland Fall Masters is a single-elimination tournament that is held each fall (among all NCAA Division I conferences) intended to highlight each league's top players. Champions from the tournament qualify for the ITA Conference Masters Championships and from there a select few will play in the NCAA Singles and Doubles Championships.
Miettinen and Paiva will team up in the doubles competition while Gudovskaya is set to take on the league in singles play. While the tournament gets under way late Wednesday morning, the Cardinal trio won't step on the court until Thursday.
Miettinen and Paiva are slated to go up against McNeese's Leana Gomez and Erica Hagi beginning at 11 a.m. Should the Cardinals advance past the early season Battle of the Border matchup, they would return to the court Friday at 11 a.m. The doubles championship will take place Saturday at 9 a.m.
Gudovskaya will opening things up against Stephen F. Austin's Felicia Back. The two are slated to step on the court Thursday 3 p.m. If Gudovskaya advances to the semifinals she would return to the court Friday at 3 p.m. with the championship match set for Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
