BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University women's basketball returns to the Montagne Center for a midweek matchup against Nicholls. The Cards two winning streaks, 37 straight at home and nine game winning streak, will be on the line against the Colonels. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. from the Montagne Center.

Nicholls enters the contest with the Cards coming off an 85-55 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Jan. 23. The win for the Colonels is its second straight. Against the Islanders, Nicholls shot 49.2 percent from the field and hit eight three-pointers. The Islanders forced Nicholls into 11 turnovers in the contest. Nicholls had four players score in double-figures, led by Cassidy Barrios. Barrios played 37 minutes and scored 23 points on 9-for-13 shooting. Tykeria Williams scored 19 points coming off the bench on 7-of-13 shooting. The Colonels are 3-6 on the season on the road.Â

Nicholls is led in scoring by Barrios, who is averaging 20.4 points per game. Besides scoring, Barrios leads the Colonels in rebounding averaging 11.0 rebounds per game. Barrios is the lone Colonel in scoring in double-figures this season. Tykeria Williams is second on the team in scoring averaging 9.1 points per game.

As a team, Nicholls is averaging 66.6 points per game and are shooting 41.7 percent from the floor. The Colonels scored a season-high 97 points against Northwestern State on Jan. 2. Opponents are averaging 64.9 points per game and shooting 40.7 percent from the floor on the season.

The Colonels were picked to finish fourth in the Southland Conference Preseason Poll.

LAST TIME OUT – SAM HOUSTON STATE
The Lamar University women's basketball team won its ninth straight contest with an 83-72 victory over Sam Houston State in Southland Conference action. The win was the seventh win in SLC play.

With the win the Cards improve to 14-4 on the season and 7-0 in SLC action. Sam Houston State falls to 9-8 on the season and 4-3 in SLC play.

"We were up 23 points in the fourth quarter and we did not take care of the ball and it was a little disappointing," remarked Head CoachÂ
Robin Harmony. "In the fourth quarter, Sam Houston State came out and fought back to get back into the game. We came back and earned a hard-fought win, and it is a learning experience."

The Cardinals had four players in double-figures, led by 29 points byÂ
Moe Kinard. Kinard was 12-for-17 shooting from the field.Â
Miya Crump followed with 25 points,Â
Chastadie Barrs had 15 andÂ
Briana Laidler scored 12 points rounding out the double-figure scorers.

Barrs led the Cards with 12 steals, which tied her career high in a contest. She also led LU in assists with seven. Barrs recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 steals. LU shot 42.3 percent in the contest. The 72 points allowed by the Cardinals is the most they have allowed in a SLC contest this season.
