Harmony Inducted Into Third Hall of Fame

BEAUMONT, Texas – On Sunday, Nov. 3, Lamar University Head Women's Basketball Coach Robin Harmony will be inducted into the St. Thomas (Fla.) University Athletic Hall of Fame. This will be the third Hall of Fame she is inducted into.

Entering her sixth season at Lamar, Coach Harmony has compiled a record of 91-61 and was named the 2018 Southland Conference Coach of the Year. She has a career record of 223-109, with three conference coach of the year honors (2 Sun Conference; 1 Southland). She has a 66-24 mark in conference games. The 66 conference wins are tied for the school record, while the .733 winning percentage is a program record.

Under Harmony's guidance at Lamar, guard Chastadie Barrs has been named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year three times, and Kiara Desamours (2015-16) and Jadyn Pimentel (2017-18) earned conference Freshman of the Year accolades. In 2016-17 Moe Kinard was named Southland Conference Newcomer of the Year. In her five years with the Cardinals, she has had 11 all-conference selections.

LU has won 82.4 percent of its home games under Harmony, posting a 56-12 record at the Montagne Center. The Cards have a 28 home-court winning streak, the second-longest active home winning streak in the nation.

Harmony has been inducted into the University of Miami Hall of Fame and was a member of the ninth induction class of the ACC Women's Basketball Legends Hall of Fame.

Harmony started the women's basketball program at St. Thomas and spent six years as the head coach. She compiled a record of 131-48 over six seasons. In five of her six seasons at the helm, Harmony lead the Bobcats to 20 or more wins.

She was named the Sun Conference Coach of the Year twice, during the 2008-09 season and 2012-13 season. She led the Bobcats to three appearances in the NAIA National Championships.

A defensive-minded coach, Harmony's philosophy paid off at St. Thomas as the Bobcats twice ranked second in the nation in scoring defense and twice were in the top five for steals per game, 3-point-field goal percentage defense and turnover margin.

Prior to getting into coaching, Harmony was a standout player for the University of Miami. She was the first women's basketball player inducted into the university's Hall of Fame. She tallied 1,308 points, 750 rebounds, 445 assists and 314 steals in 125 games. She set the school record for assists in a game with 14 in a contest against Florida International University on Dec. 4, 1982. She remains among the career leads in points and rebounds at Miami.

Harmony and the Cardinals open its season on Tuesday, Nov. 6 when they travel to Lafayette, La. to face Louisiana. Tipoff is set for 5 p.m.
