HUMBLE, Texas – The Lamar Cardinals moved up the team leaderboard on the second day of the All American Intercollegiate at the Golf Club of Houston on Saturday.
The Cardinals, who started the second round tied for 13
th place, moved up to a tie for 11
th in the 18-team field, firing an even-par 288, nine strokes better than Friday's effort.
"We played a little better today, so we are going to take that as a positive," LU coach
Jessie Mudd said. "It's our first event of the spring and we expect a little rust. We're going to go out there Sunday and try to keep improving."

Mans Berglund each carded a 1-under-par 71 on the 7,067-yard, par-72 layout.
Eason Wang, who was tied for third after a 3-under-par 69 on Friday, had a 3-over-par 75 Saturday to sit at even par after 36 holes, putting him in a tie for 25
th in the 96-player field. Gous is tied for 37
th at 145, Flowers is tied for 69
th at 151, while Berglund is tied for 78
th at 153.
Cody Banach, who had a 74 on Friday, shot an 81 on Saturday, putting him in a tie for 86
th at 155.
LU enters Sunday's final round at 585, tied with LSU and just one stroke behind UTSA, which is in 10
th place, and three strokes behind ninth-place Louisiana Tech.
Baylor leads the team standings at 552, 12 strokes ahead of Vanderbilt and 18 strokes ahead of Houston. Baylor golfers hold the top three spots in the medalist chase, with Cooper Dossey at 10-under-par 134 leading the way, three strokes ahead of Garrett May and four shots better than Braden Bailey.
Sunday's final round is scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.
