LU Hoops Game Added to ASN Schedule

BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University Cardinals' game against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Monday, Jan. 11 will be televised on the American Sports Network. In addition to the game being added to the broadcast schedule, it will also be moved to an 8 p.m. tip, which is a change from the original 7 p.m. start time.

The announcement comes just 24 hours after LU announced a deal with ESPN3 which will have the Cardinals' remaining home games aired on either of the two networks.

The Cardinals are 9-5 (.643) on the season, and currently sixth in the Southland Conference standings with a 1-1 (.500) mark. Big Red had a four-game win streak snapped Tuesday night in a four-point setback to New Orleans. A tough loss, the Cardinals rallied from two 12-point second-half deficits to pull within two with seconds remaining on the clock. LU got four open looks at the basket from three-point range but came up empty. The Cardinals will be in Conway, Ark., Saturday before returning home to face A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Islanders wrapped up non-conference play with one of the best records in the Southland Conference, 9-3. The Islanders opener league play Tuesday evening with a 7:30 p.m. contest against Central Arkansas.

The 2014-15 showdown in Corpus Christi turned out to be one of the most thrilling games in conference play last year. In a game that came right down to the wire, LU picked up the road win on a last second shot that was goaltended by the Islanders.

The Cardinals enter their upcoming game at Central Arkansas looking to improve to 10-5 on the season. If LU can pick up the road win, it would be their first 10-5 start since the 2011-12 season, a year that ended with the Cardinals winning the conference tournament title and advancing to the NCAA Championships.
