FRISCO, Texas – Lamar University men's basketball has been picked fourth in the 2026 Southland Conference Preseason Poll announced league officials Tuesday afternoon. The Cardinals received 91 points to finish just seven points back of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi who also received a first-place vote.

The poll is high praise from the league head coaches for the Cardinals under the direction of first-year man Jordan Fee who comes to Lamar from Florida Atlantic. Fee spent two seasons at FAU including his final season where he was associate head coach.

Fee, who originally gained national headlines after leading Gannon University to the greatest single-season turnaround at any level (in either men's or women's hoops), has completely rebuilt the Cardinals roster during the offseason bringing in 14 new players including 13 transfers. Big Red is looking to bounce back from a 12-win season a year ago narrowly missing the conference tournament.

The Cardinals will tip off the regular season Monday, Nov. 2^nd when they host Schreiner at the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center. All home games will be broadcast on ESPN+ and Newstalk 560 KLVI.
