Quante Berry has been named a 2026 Preseason All-Southland Conference selection according to Blue Ribbon Basketball announced publication officials Thursday afternoon. In addition to the preseason all-conference selection, the Cardinals have been picked fourth in Blue Ribbon's Preseason Poll.
A top 50 guard coming out of high school (according to 247Sports.com), Berry transfers to Lamar for his final year of eligibility after stops at Temple and Memphis. The 6-4, 195-pound guard filled up the stat sheet during his sophomore season at Temple averaging 10.3 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game.
Over the course of his entire collegiate career, Berry has played in 88 games making 33 starts. He has scored 551 points (6.2 ppg), pulled down 235 rebounds (2.7 rpg), dished out 115 assists (1.3 apg) and recorded 83 steals (0.9 spg).
The Cardinals are coming off a 12-19 (.387) season where they just missed the conference tournament. LU will be led this season by first-year head coach Jordan Fee. During the offseason, Fee has completely overhauled the roster bringing in 14 new players including with 13 transfers. Among the 13 transfer additions, 10 come via the portal with three making their way to the Golden Triangle via the portal.
