BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University released its 2026-27 men's basketball schedule Thursday morning. The 32-game schedule is highlighted by 14 home games, a multi-team tournament in Jacksonville, Fla. and a trip to the West Coast.
 
"I'm really excited about the schedule we have put together and the opportunities it will provide our team," said LU first-year head coach Jordan Fee. "Our non-conference slate is going to be a tough test that will hopefully prepare us well for conference play. The Southland Conference is an extremely competitive league, and every night is going to challenge us. That's what makes this schedule exciting — we'll have the opportunity to compete against quality teams, play in some tough environments and continue to grow as a team throughout the season. We're looking forward to getting started and representing Lamar the right way."
 
Big Red officially opens the season Monday, Nov. 2^nd at home against Schreiner. The contest against Schreiner will be two of three at home to open the season as the Cardinals travel to Abilene Christian (Nov. 7) before returning home to face Centenary (Nov. 11).
 
The Cardinals will then fly to Omaha, Neb., Tuesday Nov. 17^th for a date against the Omaha Mavericks, before traveling to Jacksonville to compete in the Jacksonville Classic (Nov. 22^nd and 24^th). Lamar's opponents for the multi-team event will be released at a later date but the tournament field consist of Lamar, UIC, Miami (Ohio) New Mexico State, Ohio, Rice and Robert Morris.
 
Following the trip to the Sunshine State, the Cardinals return home to host UL Monroe Wednesday, Dec. 2^nd which will be the final non-conference game before opening Southland Conference play. The Cardinals will get two league games in (Dec. 5 vs. Northwestern State and Dec. 7 vs. East Texas A&M) before traveling west for two contests. The Cardinals will be in Portland Thursday, Dec. 10^th followed by a contest at Oregon State 24 hours later.
 
The West Coast trip begins a stretch that will have Lamar on the road for eight of the next nine games. It will include conference stops at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (Dec. 19^th) and UT Rio Grande Valley (Dec. 21) followed by the non-conference finale at Boise State (Dec. 29^th).
 
Lamar returns to league play full-time Saturday, Jan. 2, when they travel to Lake Charles, La. to renew the Battle of the Border rivalry at McNeese. Big Red welcomes McNeese to Beaumont on January 26^th.
 
All LU home games will tip off at 6 p.m. and be played at the Neches Federal Credit Union Arena at the Montagne Center and will be broadcast on Newstalk 560 KLVI and streamed live on ESPN+.
