BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University women's basketball coach
Robin Harmony announced that four student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to attend LU and play for the Cardinals next season.
Joining the Cardinals in the 2016-17 season are Siyana Allen, a 6-foot wing player from Lakewood High School in St. Petersburg, Fla.; Ivana Boyd, a 5-foot-7 combo guard from Flagler Palm Coast High School in Palm Coast, Fla.; Kyla Green, a 5-11 small forward from Overton High School in Memphis, Tenn.; and Briana Laidler a 6-foot post player from Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange, Fla.
"We know that we signed another great class," said Harmony, whose freshman class on this season's team was ranked tops in the Southland Conference and 84
th nationally by All Star Girls Report. "All four of these players have the potential to start and contribute immediately.
They all have a great work ethic and are quality people. All of them come from quality programs that have enjoyed success. They know how to win."
Allen was ranked 267
th nationally and the 10
th-best in the state of Florida by All Star Girls Report. She averaged 24.7 points, 8.9 rebounds and 7.8 assists per game last season for Lakewood High School as she was named the Tampa Bay Times Pinellas Player of the Year. She also earned first-team all-state and all-county accolades.
"Siyana can play multiple positions. She's a good shooter and can drive and play with her back to the basket," Harmony said. "She can guard all five positions and has good 3-point range."

News-Journal Player of the Year, averaged 15.2 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.9 steals per game as a junior. FPC advanced to the state semifinals for the first time in school history, winning a postseason game for the first time since 1977. The team return to the state semifinals last season. She was ranked 429
th nationally and 26
th in Florida by All Star Girls Report.
"Ivana is jet fast," Harmony said. "She can get her own shot or create shots for others. She has good 3-point range and great court vision. She is also a shutdown defender."
Green averaged 16 points and eight rebounds per game for Overton High School, earning first-team all-region, all-district and all-city accolades. She was ranked the 77
th-best small forward prospect in the nation by ESPN.
"She is a high-energy player and a workhorse," Harmony said. "She is a rebounding machine. She runs the floor well and can finish around the basket. She has the potential to post a double-double every time she plays."
Laidler was a second-team all-county selection for two consecutive years at Spruce Creek High School. She averaged 10 points, nine rebounds and three blocks per game last season. She was ranked as the 36
th best overall prospect in Florida by Florida Girls Basketball and the 48
th-best post prospect in the nation by Don Olson Collegiate Girls Basketball Report.
"Briana has tremendous potential," Harmony said. "She is a high leaper. She is a great shot blocker and can rebound out of the zone.
I am really excited about the recruiting class we just signed joining last season's recruiting class. I think we have the potential to be a very good team."
This season's edition of the Cardinals open their season at 11 a.m. Friday at Oklahoma State.
