Results

BEAUMONT - Jeandre Hoogenboezem earned his second singles victory in as many weeks on Tuesday, but unfortunately for the Lamar men's tennis team, he would be the only Cardinal in the victory column as the team fell 6-1 to Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Southland Conference showdown at Thompson Family Tennis Center.

Hoogenboezem, a freshman out of South Africa, won 6-2, 6-3 over Guillaume Rauseo at No. 5 singles, marking his fourth victory of the 2014 season.

In other singles action, Nikita Lis fell 6-4, 6-1 to Peter Nagy at the top spot, and Ricardo Mayagoitia picked up a 6-3, 6-4 victory over Juuso Laitinen at No. 2. Javier Pujol beat Carl-Philip Lindqvist 6-0, 6-3 at the third position, and Mikko Rajamaki dropped a 6-2, 6-3 affair to Matt Westmoreland on line four.

Trey Crysel, who was playing singles for the first time since February, fell 6-2, 6-0 to Paul Cook.

In doubles, Westmoreland and Cook handed Hoogenboezem and Laitinen an 8-5 loss, and the tandem of Crysel and Lindqvist lost 8-1 to Pujol and Mayagoitia.

The Cards will return to action on Friday with a trip to New Orleans before returning home to take on Abilene Christian in the last home match of the season.
