BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University men's tennis team will send two players to Lake Charles, La., Friday to compete in the Southland Conference Individual Championships hosted by McNeese. The individual championship tournament will begin Friday and run through Sunday with each league school sending its top singles player and doubles team.
 
Senior Leon Nickel (singles and doubles) and junior Maxwell Lindstedt (doubles) will be representing Lamar. Play gets under way Friday with championship matches set for Sunday.
 
Nickel is the No. 3 overall seed in the singles draw and will square off against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi's Andres Delgadillo Saturday at 10 a.m. Just two short hours later, Nickel will join Lindstedt in the doubles competition. The LU duo is rated as the No. 1 overall seed and await the winner of the No. 4-seed duo of UIW's Alejandro Hernandez and Alex Flores vs. No. 5 Marcell Marki and Mateo De Los Santos from Nicholls.
