BEAUMONT - Jeandre Hoogenboezem picked up a fourth Southland Conference singles win and Juuso Laitinen added another as the Lamar men's tennis team fell 5-2 to Abilene Christian on Sunday afternoon at Thompson Family Tennis Center.
With the loss, LU fell to 12-12 on the year with a 1-4 Southland record. ACU improved to 12-9 and 4-0, respectively.
Laitinen picked up his win over Nicklas Wingord, earning a 3-6, 6-4, 7-5 decision at No. 2, and Hoogenboezem won 6-4, 6-4 over Jason Proctor at the fourth spot.
In other singles action, Nikita Lis fell 6-3, 6-4 to Borja Cortes in the top spot, and Carl-Philip Lindqvist dropped a 6-2, 6-3 match to Guilherme Gesser on line three. Mikko Rajamaki lost 6-4, 1-6, 13-11 to Nico Agritelley at No. 5, and Marco Bensley won 6-3, 6-1 over Trey Crysel on the final court.
In doubles, Cortes and Gesser beat Lis and Rajamaki 8-6, and the tandem of Crysel and Lindqvist fell 8-4 to Bensley and Wingord. Agritelley and Proctor were tied 7-7 with Hoogenboezem and Laitinen when the round concluded.
The Cards will close out the regular season on Friday with a match at Incarnate Word.
