Men's Tennis falls to Nevada

SAN ANTONIO – After putting up a fight in doubles, the Lamar men’s tennis team dropped the singles matches as the Cardinals fell 7-0 to Nevada at UTSA Tennis Center on Saturday.

The duo of Rob Lee and Steven McMullan narrowly lost 8-6 in their meeting with Robert Allan and Victor Ouvrard at No. 1, and the team of Trey Crysel and Carl-Philip Lindqvist also battled it out, eventually falling 8-5 to Andrew Poustie and Fernando Sunago at No. 3.

On Court 2, Moez Echargui and Quentin Mege knocked off Bruno Snyder and Mikko Rajamaki in 8-4 fashion.

Lee made Ouvrard work for the opening set, but ultimately the Brighton, England, native lost 7-5, 6-2 to the Frenchman and No. 1, and Lindqvist dropped his match 6-2, 6-4 to Chargui at the second spot.

At No. 3, Allan beat Snyder 6-1, 6-0, and Mege defeated McMullan 6-2, 6-4 at line four. Ryan Andrada picked up the 6-2, 6-0 decision in the fifth slot, and Philip Hinajosa rounded out the day with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Crysel.

Lamar will return to action on Sunday against former Southland foe UTSA.
