Cardinals fall to Golden Eagles

HATTIESBURG, Miss. - The Lamar University men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to host Southern Mississippi in a non-conference match Sunday.

Lamar (2-3), which posted a 4-3 win over Troy earlier Sunday, received victories from Robert Lee at No. 2 singles and Bruno Snyder at No. 5 singles.

Lee won his first set 7-6 (4) over Paulo Alvarado and held a 4-3 lead in the second set when Alvarado defaulted. Snyder took a 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2) win over Jovan Zeljkovic at No. 5 singles.

Southern Mississippi improved to 7-5 on the season.

The Cardinals host Alcorn State in a non-conference match at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Thompson Family Tennis Center on the Lamar campus. Admission is free.
