BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University men's tennis team claimed its first shutout victory of the season by rolling to a 7-0 victory over visiting Alcorn State in a non-conference match Saturday.

Lamar (5-5) dropped just one set on the day as it evened its record at .500. Rob Lee won his third consecutive match at No. 1 singles for Lamar with a 6-4, 4-6, 10-8 win over Ernesto Santillan. Denis Ermilov, Marton Horvath, Carlos Valdenebro, Bruno Snyder and Mikko Rajamaki all won in straight sets at singles for the Cardinals.

"We played a very solid match from doubles through singles," Lamar coach Scott Shankles said. "I liked our energy and focus throughout the match."

Lamar hosts Arkansas-Pine Bluff in a non-conference match at 2 p.m. Thursday.
