BEAUMONT, Texas - Bruno Snyder's three-set victory at No. 4 singles snapped a 3-3 tie as the Lamar University men's tennis team posted a 4-3 non-conference win over visiting Marist at the Thompson Family Tennis Center on Thursday.

Snyder, a freshman from Lima, Peru held on for a 7-5, 3-6, 7-5 win as the Cardinals (3-4) snapped a two-match skid.

"I'm so proud of him for staying focus and continuing to fight until the end," Lamar coach Scott Shankles said of Snyder. "He saved a match point at 3-5, and from there he elevated his game."

Marist (5-3) swept the doubles competition for the first point of the match, but Lamar picked up points at the first three singles spots. Marist won at No. 5 and No. 6 singles, setting up Snyder's heroics.

"It feels so good to be able to win the entire match after losing the doubles point," Shankles said. "It's very difficult to do, but the guys hung tough and won in dramatic fashion. "

Lamar travels to the University of Arkansas, where it will meet UMKC on Monday before facing the host Razorbacks on Tuesday. Lamar opens a four-match homestand by taking on Alcorn State at 10 a.m. March 24.
