The Lamar University men's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to host Air Force in a non-conference match late Friday.
Lamar (3-5) received wins from Denis Ermilov and Diego Snyder in singles competition.
Ermilov, playing his first match at No. 1 singles, rallied for a 4-6, 7-6 (7), 1-0 (10-6) win over Lance Wilhelm. Snyder took a 6-4, 6-2 decision from Alex Beaussart at No. 6 singles.
Air Force (7-2) started off the day by sweeping the three doubles matches to claim the doubles point.
Air Force played a very good match today," Lamar coach Scott Shankles said. "We didn't play as good in doubles, so Air Force took advantage. We played much better in singles and had chances, but didn't win enough big-point opportunities."
Lamar is scheduled for two matches in Colorado Springs on Saturday, facing Weber State at noon and Northern Colorado at 5 p.m.
"I think the doubleheader will be much better for us now that we are used to the altitude," Shankles said.
