BEAUMONT, Texas - The Lamar University men's tennis team remained unbeaten at home after claiming a 6-1 non-conference victory over Prairie View A&M at the Thompson Family Tennis Center on Saturday.
Marton Horvath and Carlos Valdenebro each recorded their seventh win of the season in singles play for Lamar (6-6), as the Cardinals improved to 3-0 on their home court.
Horvath was a 6-1, 6-2 winner over Ronald Chidzikwe at fourth singles, while Valdenebro took a 6-3, 6-4 decision from Craig Wiltz at No. 3 singles.
Denis Ermilov, Robert Lee and Diego Snyder also won at singles for Lamar.
"We played a very good match against a tough Prairie View squad," Lamar coach Scott Shankles said. "The doubles matches were close. I felt good that we were able to win the doubles point. Fortunately, we held on to the momentum in our singles matches."
Lamar returns to action at 10 a.m. Sunday when it hosts Southern Mississippi in a non-conference match.
