HOUSTON - The Lamar University men's tennis team opened the 2011 spring season with a 7-0 loss at Rice University in a non-conference match Saturday.

The closest match for Lamar was a t first singles, as Lamar's Rob Lee dropped a 7-6, 6-2 decision to Peter Frank.

Rice is 1-0.

Lamar opens its home season at 10 a.m. Monday with a non-conference match against Alcorn State.
