Cardinals fall to Texas-Pan American

EDINBURG, Texas -- Marton Horvath earned the only point for the Lamar University men's tennis team in a 6-1 Southland Conference loss to Texas-Pan American on Saturday.

Horvath posted a 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 victory over Andrew Irving of UTPA at No. 5 singles. With the win, Horvath moved his record in singles play to 11-7.

Lamar lost the doubles point, but earned the victory at No. 3 doubles as Richard Filkuka and Diego Snyder teamed for an 8-4 win over Irving and Marcus Dornauf.

Lamar (11-9 overall, 0-4 SLC) returns to action with a pair of non-conference matches in San Antonio on Friday, taking on Our Lady of the Lakes at 10 a.m. and St. Mary's of Texas at 3 p.m.
