Former Lamar men's golf all-America Dawie Van Der Walt captured the Adams Golf Pro Tour Series' Mary Bird Perkins Merrill Lynch Open at the University Club Golf Course in Baton Rouge, La. on Sunday.

Van Der Walt claimed the title with a 72-hole score of 69-64-70-65--268 (20-under-par), by two strokes over Connie Price. The win netted the native of Cape Town, South Africa, $15,000 in prize money.

Two weeks earlier he finished fourth in the Halliburton SW Oklahoma Classic in his only other Adams Series event this season.
