Cardinals move up to seventh after Day 2 of SLC tournament

KERRVILLE, Texas — At the conclusion of the second day of the Southland Conference tournament, Lamar University moved into seventh place Tuesday afternoon at Comanche Trace despite cloudy, drizzly conditions.

The Cardinals posted a two-round total of 595 (303-292), sitting just two strokes behind sixth-place Southeastern Louisiana.

After recording seven birdies and 57 pars in the opening round, LU showed improvement in round two with three eagles and 11 birdies.

Nathan Woodham finished the first round's front nine at one-under, highlighted by two birdies.

He opened the second round strongly, carding two eagles, a birdie and three pars on the front nine to shoot one-under.

Filip Widepalm was one-under on the front nine with three birdies and four pars before closing at even par for the round.

He added two birdies and five pars on the back nine and now has eight birdies in the tournament.

Matthew Bramford shot one-under for the round, finishing the front nine at even par with an eagle, a birdie and four pars.

He was bogey-free on the back nine, posting eight pars and one birdie.

David Schneider Jerez played the back nine at even par, recording one birdie and seven pars.

As a team, the Cardinals recorded six birdies and three eagles on the front nine, then added 32 pars and five birdies on the back nine.

Incarnate Word (293-291—574) holds a four-stroke lead over second-place UT Rio Grande Valley.

UIW's Joel Talusen (68-67—135) leads the individual standings by seven strokes over UTRGV's Gabriel Dulon Villoslada.
