BEAUMONT - The Lamar University men's tennis team dropped three matches over the weekend, falling to SMU, Bradley and St. Edward's.
The Cardinals opened the weekend with a 7-0 loss to SMU on Friday afternoon, before dropping a 6-1 decision to Bradley Saturday morning in Dallas. The Cards then traveled to Austin for a Sunday morning face off with the Hilltoppers of St. Edward's, which they dropped 6-1.
Several Cardinals picked up individual wins during the weekend, with Filip Kanczula registering a 6-4, 6-1win over Ricardo Omana of St. Edward's in No. 1 singles on Sunday. Evan Hays picked up the first win of the weekend for Lamar, a 7-5, 7-5 win over Alex Roby of Bradley
Kanczula also picked up a win in doubles play, pairing with Maciej Bogusz for an 8-4 win over Simon Boyce and Tylor Lyon of St. Edward's.
The Cardinals, now 1-7 for the season, will be in action again Friday in McAllen, Texas, when they take on Abilene Christian.
