MIDLAND - Weather continues to wreak havoc at the 2005 Midland Rockhounds College Classic at First American Bank Ballpark. Due to cold and rainy conditions, Lamar's 1 p.m. game against Texas-San Antonio was cancelled Friday.
Lamar (7-2) will attempt to finish the rest of the weekend's schedule. The Cardinals are scheduled to play New Mexico State at 3 p.m. and Texas Tech at 7 p.m.
Due to the schedule change, Lamar has shuffled its pitching rotation for Saturday. Junior William Delage, who is 0-0 with a 3.38 earned run average, will get the start against New Mexico State (5-7). Senior Scott Vander Weg, who is 1-0 with a 1.29 ERA, will start against Texas Tech (8-1).
Lamar is 2-1 all-time against New Mexico State, taking two of three from the Aggies in Las Cruces in 1974. This will be the first-ever meeting between the Cardinals and Red Raiders.
The Cardinals are hitting .300 as a team with 82 runs scored, 92 hits, 24 doubles, two triples and five home runs. Lamar has walked 72 times and struck out 42 times.
