BEAUMONT, Texas — Lamar University continues its fall season Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 21-22, traveling to Houston to compete in the Bayou City Collegiate Classic hosted by Rice University at Westwood Golf Club.
RECAPPING LAST WEEK:
- The Cardinals placed seventh in a 14-team field at the Sandestin Collegiate Classic.
- Lamar opened the tournament with a 279, recording 16 birdies, one eagle and 70 pars.
- The Cardinals finished the event with 46 birdies.
TOP INDIVIDUAL PERFORMANCES:
- Matthew Bramford recorded Lamar's first top 10 finish of the season, tying for seventh place with a 54-hole total of 207 (67-71-69).
- The tournament marked a career low for Bramford at Lamar, eclipsing his previous best 54-hole score of 208, which he recorded at the Golden Nugget Invitational in March 2026.
- Bramford carded a career-low 67 in the opening round of the Sandestin Collegiate Classic, eclipsing his previous low round of 68.
- Nathan Woodham recorded a top 20 finish, tying for 18th place with a 54-hole total of 210 (69-70-71).
BAYOU CITY COLLEGIATE PARTICIPANTS: Houston Christian, Valparaiso, UT Arlington, Sam Houston, Texas A&M, Abilene Christian, Incarnate Word, UT Rio Grande Valley, Rice, Lamar, Middle Tennessee, Houston, Texas, Prairie View A&M, Samford and Texas Southern.
COURSE INFO: Westwood Golf Club, founded in 1928, is Houston's second-oldest private golf club still located on its original site … The course features six sets of tees and can play up to 7,175 yards.
