MIRAMAR BEACH, Fla. — Lamar University climbed to seventh place to finish the 14-team Sandestin Collegiate Classic on Wednesday at Raven Golf Club at Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort.

Matthew Bramford fired a one-under 69 in the final round to tie for seventh individually.

He recorded four birdies and 12 pars Wednesday and finished the tournament with two rounds under par, nine birdies, one eagle and 38 pars.

Rory Bennett closed with an even-par 70, highlighted by 12 consecutive pars to end the round. He also carded a birdie on No. 6.

Nathan Woodham tied for 18th place after posting a one-under front nine that included three birdies and four pars.

Woodham recorded two rounds of par or better during the tournament and finished with 11 birdies and 32 pars.

Freddie Surgey added three birdies in the final round and shot even par on the back nine while Storm Du Toit and Filip Widepalm each recorded two birdies.

As a team, the Cardinals totaled 16 birdies and 66 pars in the final round. Lamar finished the three-day event with 46 birdies.

Mercer and West Florida tied for the team title with scores of 838, one stroke ahead of third-place Central Arkansas.

Competing as an individual, West Florida's Hector Arriaga captured medalist honors with a 200 (69-63-68), finishing one stroke ahead of UT Arlington's Jen Chie Huang.
