FRISCO, Texas – Five members of the Lamar University men's tennis team have been named to the 2026 Academic All-Southland Conference squad announced league officials Wednesday afternoon. LU's five recipients are sophomore
Louis Drapeau, sophomore
Maxwell Lindstedt, freshman
Vicente Monge, junior
Leon Nickel and freshman
Rintaro Shukuda.
To be eligible for nomination, each student-athlete must have recorded at least a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average, demonstrated athletic achievement during the current academic year, finished one academic semester at the nominating institution and have played in at least 50 percent of the team's matches. Each university is limited to a maximum of five honorees.
All five athletes played a key role in a Cardinal squad that was fighting for a share of the Southland Conference title heading into the final day of the regular season. Lamar's selections all recorded at least a 3.40 GPA with Monge topping the scale with a 3.80.
Lamar's group also includes three All-SLC selections from this past season – Drapeau, Monge and Shukuda – including the SLC Freshman of the Year which was also won by Shukuda. The native of Sapporo Hakkaido, Japan, Shukuda became the fourth Cardinal in program history to be named league freshman of the year.
