Cardinals' Win-Streak Earns National Ranking in Mid-Major Poll

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas — Lamar University's historic win streak has reached 14 consecutive games, and the Cardinals are receiving national recognition as a result.

The Cardinals are ranked 23rd in the latest Softball America Mid-Major Power Rankings, marking the program's first appearance in the poll this season.

It also matches the highest ranking the Cardinals have achieved in any national poll, as they were on last season's opening D1Softball.com Mid-Major rankings poll at No. 23.

Big Red is ranked ahead of Wichita State (24th) and South Alabama (25th) while trailing behind 22nd Coastal Carolina.

LU is one of three Texas schools in the poll, along with Texas State (11th) and North Texas (13th). Southeastern Louisiana is ranked second in the poll behind Belmont.

The Cardinals (25-15, 11-4 SLC) will have their chance to take on SLU (33-9, 15-0 SLC) this weekend in Hammond, La. Friday is a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m., while Saturday's finale begins at noon. The series will be streamed on ESPN+.
