Isabella Flores continues to receive honors for her weekend series against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
Flores has been selected as the D1Softball.com Mid-Major Freshman of the Week after recording a .600 batting average (6-of-10) with nine RBIs, three homers and one double while leading LU to a series sweep of the Islanders. She started the series with six RBIs on two homers (one grand slam) and then ended the weekend with a walk-off three-run blast.
Flores also set LU's single-season records in RBI (45) and walk-off RBI (seven), while she's tied for most walk-off homers in a career with two. Her performance would also give Southland Conference Hitter of the Week honors.
The Wylie native is second in the league in RBI (45), which is tied for fifth amongst all freshmen in the nation. She ranks tied for sixth in home runs (seven), seventh in batting average (.394), tied for third in doubles (13), fourth in hits (50), tied for fourth in runs (37) and third in slugging percentage (.677).
The Cardinals have won 14 consecutive games and will look to a road trip for their next conference series with Southeastern Louisiana. Friday will be a doubleheader starting at 4 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+. The series finale takes place Saturday and will start at noon.
