Cardinals Set for Five Matches in Northeast

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – In the midst of a nine-match road swing, the Cardinals will be in West Point, N.Y. Saturday to play four matches in three days before driving to New Jersey for a fifth match. During the Cardinals' trip to the Empire State Big Red will face Hofstra (Saturday/11 a.m.), Marist (Saturday/1 p.m.), Army (Sunday/8 a.m.) and Bryant (Monday/Noon). The trip will conclude Tuesday with a match at NJIT (2 p.m.).

Winners in four of their past five matches, and coming off a 5-2 win over UT Arlington, the Cardinals head to New York currently playing their best tennis of the season. Big Red is 6-8 (.429) overall.

The Cardinals have a limited history against their next five opponents. Lamar is 1-0 all-time against Marist, 2-2 versus Bryant and 1-1 against NJIT, but have never faced Hofstra or Army.

Among Lamar's next five opponent, Hofstra, and Bryant will be looking to right the ship after tough starts to the season. Hofstra is looking for its first win of the season after opening the year 0-7, while Bryant is 3-8. Marist heads into the weekend slate of matches one win over the .500 mark (3-2). Army boasts of a 9-5 overall record but is coming off three consecutive losses while the Highlanders are 6-2 and have won three of the past four.

The trip to the northeast will wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule and will carry the Red and White into the start of Southland Conference play Saturday, March 21 at New Orleans.
