ABILENE, Texas – Sophomore
Maxwell Lindstedt recorded a hard-fought three-set victory at No. 2 singles, but Lamar was unable to add to the momentum dropping a 6-1 decision at Abilene Christian Saturday afternoon.
The final score was not indicative of how close the match was. Four of the singles courts went to a third set but Lamar could only come away with one victory among those four matches.
The Wildcats took the first two singles matches before Lindstedt got Lamar (5-8) on the scoreboard with a 3-6, 7-5, 6-1 victory over ACU's Tomas Queseda Perez at No. 2 singles. Lindstedt's victory appeared to spark a rally with matches on courts 1, 4 and 6 headed to a third set. Unfortunately, ACU held off Lamar on the other three courts for the overall victory.
The Cardinals return to action Sunday when they travel to Arlington, Texas to take on UT Arlington. The match against the Mavericks is set for an 11 a.m. start.
