| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – Winners of three straight and five of their last six, the Lamar University men's tennis teams looks to extend its hot streak when they travel to Abilene, Texas to face Abilene Christian (Feb. 28 / noon) followed by a match Monday at UT Arlington (Mar. 1 / 11 a.m.).

The Cardinals (5-7) are in the midst of their longest win streak of the season which is coming at a great time as LU gets set to play its next eight matches away from Beaumont – a stretch that will take them into Southland Conference play.

Saturday's opponent – Abilene Christian – has also bounced back from a tough start to the season to be playing its best tennis of the year. Winners in three of their past five matches, the Wildcats enter the week with a 3-5 record after a heartbreaking one-point setback to Wichita State Thursday. Lamar trails the all-time series by one, 14-15 (.483) and has lost four consecutive and five of the previous six to the Wildcats.

The Cardinals will be in Arlington the following day for an 11 a.m. match against a UTA squad looking for its first win of the season. The Mavericks have opened the year with a non-conference schedule similar to that of Lamar. UTA has face Texas A&M, TCU, Boise State, Oklahoma and New Mexico. Recently, the Mavs have had a hard time getting on the court having their last five matches canceled. UTA will host Wichita State Friday before taking on LU.

The series between the two has favored UTA with the Mavericks holding a 28-9 all-time series advantage. The Cardinals head to Arlington looking for their first win since 2014.
