BEAUMONT, Texas – Lamar University swept Dillard University in a doubleheader Saturday and have now won four of the last five matches. The Cardinals outscored Dillard, 13-1, in the two matches winning the first 7-0 and coming right back to take a 6-1 decision in the second.
 
Big Red recorded four shutout sets combined in the two matches.
 
The Cardinals took all three doubles matches in the opening contest to build momentum heading into singles. Lamar never allowed the Bleu Devils to have thoughts of a comeback winning every match in straight sets. The only close match came at No. 1 where junior Leon Nickel was forced to a third set but he was dominant in the extra frame posting a 7-6 (7-2), 6-4 decision.
 
Lamar again stormed out to a huge opening lead winning all three doubles matches and never looked back in singles play. The Bleu Devils finally got on the scoreboard with a win at No. 6 singles but it was the final match of the day and the overall outcome had already been decided.
 
The Cardinals return to action Saturday when they travel to Abilene, Texas to take on Abilene Christian.
