BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University men's tennis team returns to Beaumont to open the home portion of is schedule Sunday with a doubleheader against Lubbock Christian. The matches are a scheduled doubleheader with the LU women.
 
The Cardinals were in Houston Friday evening to take on Rice – a match that was originally slated to be Lamar's home opener but was moved due to the threat of freezing weather last week – but dropped a 4-0 decision in a clinch-clinch format to the Owls.
 
Big Red will step on the court Sunday with an 0-5 recorded after playing one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country. That schedule consists of three nationally ranked teams.
 
Lubbock Christian is 0-1 after dropping a 4-3 decision at Southern Mississippi on Jan. 17^th. The Chaparrals will play Rice Saturday before the doubleheader with LU.
 
The first match of the doubleheader has been moved to a 11 a.m. start followed by a 4 p.m. match for the second. Both matches will take place at the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
