Bijlsma Falls in Tournament Finals

CORPUS CHRISTI – Lamar University junior Savannah Bijlsma came up just short in her attempt for a flight championship in the Cardinals fall season opener. Bijlsma finished as the runner after dropping a straight-sets decision to Lubbock Christian's Sofia Valero.

Valero took an early lead with her 6-2 decision in the opening set. Valero repeated that effort in the second set to win the match, 6-2, 6-2.

The LU women will be back in action, Friday, Oct. 17 when they travel to Huntsville, Texas to take part in the three-day Sam Houston Invitational.
