FRISCO, Texas – Five members of the Lamar University women's tennis team have been named to the 2026 Academic All-Southland Conference team announce league officials Monday morning. The five Cardinals receiving the honor are junior
Martina Alcaino, junior
Savannah Bijlsma, sophomore
Arina Gudovskaya, sophomore
Asta Miettinen and sophomore
Luana Paiva.
To be eligible for nomination, each student-athlete must have recorded at least a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average, demonstrated athletic achievement during the current academic year, finished the academic semester at the nominating institution and have played in at least 50 percent of the team's matches. Each university is limited to a maximum of five honorees.
Two of Lamar's five selections ended the year with a perfect 4.0 GPA, while four of the five posted at least a 3.87 GPA.
