SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The Lamar University women's tennis team wrapped up the 2026 regular season with one final match Saturday taking on UTSA in San Antonio. Due to the threat of bad weather in the area the two schools agreed to move the start up to 10 a.m. (from its originally scheduled time of 11) and switch the start order with singles matches going first. UTSA recorded a 5-1 victory as both coaches agreed to call the match following singles due to the overall outcome already being decided.
The Cardinals' (9-11) lone victory came from freshman
Varvara Popadina who was moved into the No. 6 position for the shorthanded Cardinals who made the trip west down one starter. Popadina defeated the Roadrunners' Milica Milosavljevic, 7-6, 6-2, to get Big Red on the scoreboard. Unfortunately, Lamar was unable to add any other wins around Popadina as the hometown Roadrunners started strong and never looked back.
