Cardinals travel to Sooner state for two-day Lady Clerico

BEAUMONT, Texas — This week, the Lamar University women's golf team is competing in the first ever Lady Clerico, a two-day tournament hosted by Oral Roberts, Monday-Tuesday, Sept. 15-16 at Hillcrest Country Club.

The Cardinals began the season finishing seventh at the Wolverine Invitational in Saratoga Springs, Utah.

Kamaya Moodliar shot a career-low score of 69 during the second round as she finished 20th overall.

Moodliar finished the tournament with 10 birdies.

Brooke Frerichs made a hole-in-one on the fourth hole during the second round to tally an eagle.

She ended up carding a 69, a new career low, on the final day after having a bogey-free back nine to place 21st.

The Cardinals finished the tournament making 31 birdies.

LADY CLERICO

This will be LU's first trip to the Sooner state since competing in Tulsa in the fall of 2021.

Previously, the last trip to Oklahoma for the Cardinals came in 2017 when they won their second straight Mark Allen Shootout, a tourney hosted by Oral Roberts, at Meadowbrook Country Club in Tulsa.

This season's Lady Clerico features a field of 13, which includes Oral Roberts, Drake, Northern Iowa, East Texas A&M, Stephen F. Austin, UTRGV, UTEP, Oklahoma State, Northern Colorado, Abilene Christian, Southern Miss and Houston Christian.

Hillcrest Country Club was built in 1926. The private 18-hole course measures at a length of 6,662 yards.

The course was previously ranked 11th in the state of Oklahoma, according to Golf Digest.

Monday's action begins at 8 a.m. with 36 holes while the third round features an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
