BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University men's tennis team opens its fall schedule Friday when they travel to Corpus Christi, Texas to compete in the Jack Frederick Memorial Islander Open. The three-day tournament will run through Sunday and will be an individual formatted tournament.
 
The Jack Frederick Memorial Invite will be one of four fall tournaments for the Red and White as they begin making preparation for the spring season. The Cardinals return six key letterwinners from last year including the No. 1 singles position in Leon Nickel (junior). Joining Nickel are senior Guy Dagan, junior Stefano Chappuis and sophomores Fabian Anthin, Louis Drapeau and Lukas Hamacher.
 
Newcomers to the Lamar roster this year Axel Bergh (Sollentuna, Sweden), Maxwell Lindstedt (Gothenburg, Sweden), Vicente Monge (Lima, Peru) and Rintaro Shukuda (Sapporo Hokkaido, Japan).
 
Competition is set to begin Friday with doubles matches beginning at 9 a.m. followed by singles matches at 10. Fans can follow along with the updated brackets by clicking HERE.
