KERRVILLE, Texas — After a solid start with three players shooting under par on the front nine, the Lamar University Cardinals are in a three-way tie for fifth place after one round of play at the Southland Conference tournament Monday afternoon at Comanche Trace.
Matthew Bramford and
Filip Widepalm both shot two-under-par on the front nine while
David Schneider Jerez shot one-under.
The Cardinals had 10 birdies on the front nine while Bramford made an eagle on the ninth hole.
Jerez, Widepalm and
Rory Bennet each birdied the sixth hole. Jerez and Widepalm both birdied the ninth hole.
Widepalm made four birdies on the front nine.
Bramford finished round one at even-par (72) as he sits in a four-way tie for sixth place.
Nathan Woodham overcame two challenging holes to make 10 straight pars. He closed out the back nine with a birdie at 18.
The back nine proved to be challenging for LU as it made four birdies and 26 pars.
Augusta sits in first place with a five-shot lead over East Texas A&M.
LU is one shot behind fourth place UTRGV and three shots behind third place Incarnate Word.
Bo Blanchard of Augusta sits atop the individual leaderboard after shooting six-under-par (66) with a four-shot lead.
