Cardinals Open Six-Match Homestand Friday

| By:
BEAUMONT, Texas – The Lamar University men's tennis team (7-6) returns to the Golden Triangle to open a key six-match homestand day beginning Friday against Oral Roberts. The homestand will nearly take the Cardinals into the start of conference play as Big Red will have just two matches remaining after the homestand before opening Southland Conference play.

The homestand will consist of dates against Oral Roberts, St. Mary's (TX), a rematch with Abilene Christian, UT Arlington and a doubleheader with Dillard University. The first stop on the homestand is against ORU. The Cardinals will look to get back in the win column against a very tough Golden Eagles squad. Friday's contest will be Lamar's first match since dropping contests at Abilene Christian and No. 9 Texas A&M last week.

ORU is not off to the start they had hoped for with a 2-7 (.222) record through the first nine matches. The Golden Eagles head to Beaumont looking to put an end to a three-match slide. The Golden Eagles overall record doesn't tell the whole story when looking at their non-conference schedule. Oral Roberts' 2025 slate has already consisted of dates at Arkansas, St. Louis, Air Force, at Oklahoma, at UT Arlington and at Tulsa. Friday's contest is set for a 1 p.m. start from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.

The Cardinals will return to the courts Wednesday to host St. Mary's (TX). The Rattlers are 3-0 on the season and will face Our Lady of the Lake before making their way to Beaumont. Wednesday's match will start at 2 p.m. from the Thompson Family Tennis Center.
